SAP parent and child

Parent/child not a categorization of a particular material. With respect to Bills of Materials, a single material can be both a parent and a child, multiple times. In this context, Parent-child describes a relationship between two materials.

Parent-child relationships are created in Bills of materials. CS01. SAP typically does not use these terms when describing Bills of materials, they prefer to use the terms "header" and "item". Sometimes they will use "component" in lieu of "child". "Parent-child" term is a bit more generic, and is often used by professional planners regardless of the system they are using.

example:

parent ----->dinning table               child----->legs of th table

parent------>hotel dinning room      child----->dinning tables
